Staying at a Walt Disney World Resort after the reopening

We took a long weekend to visit the Walt Disney World resorts since the reopening. We stayed in a Deluxe Studio at Disney’s Copper Creek Villas at Wilderness Lodge. This was our first trip back since the reopening. This trip was relaxing and we had a wonderful time. We love this location and were impressed with their safety measures.

When you arrive at the resort you are greeted by cast members requesting that you complete the Online Check-In Service if you have not already. You will find signs with Health and Safety guidelines as well as hand sanitizer stations throughout the property.  When your room is ready you will receive a text message with the room number and location.  There is no reason to really visit the front desk however if there is a concern or issue with your check-in process you can stop for assistance.  They have social distance markers on the floor as well as plexiglass on the counters.  If you need a celebration button they are still available.  We found some placed on the front desk in the lobby with a pen if you wish to write a message as well.

The elevators also have social distancing guidelines with signs indicating only “one party or four individuals per elevator”.  They have also placed hand sanitizer and wipes at the entrance to the elevator in the lobby for your use.

The quick service dining locations and shops will have signs to indicate which door will be used as an entrance and which will be used as an exit.  Please be courteous to those signs when visiting either location.

Once you are in your room you will find that Walt Disney World Resorts have ensured further sanitation which includes a notice in the room to show where Enhanced Cleaning has taken place as well as a plastic wrapped TV remote that has been sanitized.

Mobile ordering is required at all quick service locations.  Once your mobile order is ready you can enter the quick service location to pick up your food.  If you are using Disney’s refillable mug the cast member will fill up a disposable cup for you to pour in your mug on your own.  You just need to show the cast member the mug and request your drink selection.

The pool chairs are positioned to help keep social distancing. The cast members have asked that once you are ready to leave the area that you fold down a chair so they know which have been used. There are also wipes located at the towel locations for guests to use at the tables if they like.

The activities at the resorts are limited however they are still happening. They do request that you sign up for most so they can limit the number involved in each activity.

Overall, we are so happy to be back on property and felt Disney has taken all of the necessary steps to ensure our safety.
